The Value of a Strong Client-Agency Relationship
When Imagewest
began at Western Kentucky University in
January 2004, the only student-run advertising and public
relations agency in the nation was born. The award-winning
agency offers students a chance to work with real clients
locally, nationally, and internationally by service as public
relations coordinators, account executives, graphic designers,
broadcast coordinators, and web designers.
Currently, over
100 high-talented students have taken
advantage of this unique hands-on opportunity. Each semester,
new students begin their internships looking to attain practical
experience in their future career fields. Students build client
relationships, write press releases, design promotional
material, develop marketing plans, and organize special events.
Any revenue generated goes directly back into the School
of Journalism and Broadcasting to cover expenses such as
equipment, scholarships, and educational travel. Are you
looking for creative minds and powerful ideas? Contact
Heather Garcia, agency manager, at (270) 745-8915 or via
e-mail at imagewest@wku.edu. Check out our website at
www.wku.edu/imagewest.
Laser Solutions
is one of Imagewest’s satisfied and
superfantabulous clients. When it opened in 2006, Laser
Solutions became the first business in the Barren River Area
Development District to offer laser therapy as a solution to
nicotine addiction. Laser Solutions also offers body wraps and
several other detoxification related services and products.
Laser Solutions of Bowling Green is an FDA approved
test center, and the laser therapy sessions are entirely safe
and pain free. The laser stimulates the body’s production of
endorphins, calming patients. It is a relatively new technique
that helps customers kick the habit of cigarettes, cigars, pipes,
and smokeless tobacco by reducing cravings and eliminating
nicotine withdrawal symptoms. Currently, Laser Solutions has
a 75 percent success rate.
Laser Solutions
is located at 830 Fairview Avenue and
owned by Lisa Graven. To contact Laser Solutions visit

BOWLING GREEN AREA
CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU
Duncan
Hines Exhibit Offers Personal Look at the Man Behind the Box
Most people recognize the
cake mix that made Duncan Hines a household name, but Americans discovering
the freedom of road trips in the 1930’s and 40’s looked
for another symbol bearing Hines’ name, his seal of approval in
the windows of dining and lodging establishments across the country.
Hines’ unsolicited endorsement of a restaurant or motel meant
the business met his strict standards of cleanliness, service and quality!
The Bowling Green Area Convention
& Visitors Bureau and the Kentucky Museum announce, “Recommended
by Duncan Hines,” an exhibit celebrating the life of this Bowling
Green native and major food industry influence. This 11-section exhibit
opens August 3, 2007 and includes a full-scale exhibit of Duncan Hines’
kitchen filled with some of his personal items including his stove,
base cabinet and kitchen sink. Hines’ closest living relative,
Cora Jane Spiller, donated his ice bucket and hot dog maker to the growing
collection of Duncan Hines memorabilia already on hand at the Kentucky
Museum.
The BGACVB has also donated
a large collection of artifacts, spending years seeking and bidding
on items in anticipation of the exhibit. One can also explore the legacy
of Duncan Hines in Bowling Green at his home/office built in 1940, on
the Duncan Hines Scenic Byway and at his gravesite at Fairview Cemetery.
The ribbon cutting to signify
the exhibit opening will be Friday, August 3 at 10:00 a.m. and community
members are encouraged to come out. This also kicks off Bowling Green’s
11th Annual Duncan Hines Festival August 3,4 and 10, 2007. Activities
at the festival include “Uncle Duncan’s Duck Derby,”
games, rides, food, live music, a recipe contest and an art exhibition.
For more information on the exhibit or ribbon cutting, contact Marissa
Butler at the
BGACVB, 782-0800, or marissa@visitbgky.com.
